Easter 1996: As the Sunday School prepared for the Easter program, each child was given a letter of the alphabet and a short recitation that related the letter to Easter. My young daughter was given the letter “N.” Not until then did I understand the significance of the nails. In helping her memorize her piece, I finally understood that Christ stayed on the cross not because of the nails, but because of His love for me. He could have come down any time.
